Abstract

AbstractThe future of the Dictionary of Swedish Dialects in Finland has been secured through grants from the Society of Swedish Literature in Finland and the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland. The grants will finance the dictionary until december 31st, 2036, the estimated date of the dictionary’s completion. As of 2024, 79 500 articles of a planned 120 000 will have been published. Financing was also granted for two Finnish dictionaries: the dialect dictionary Suomen murteiden sanakirja and Vanhan kirjasuomen sanakirja, a dictionary of older written Finnish. All three dictionaries are edited and published by the Institute for the Languages of Finland in Helsinki.
